Objectives and competences

Given that the practice of law in a professional context is not homogeneous and that it can be understood and practised in many different ways, the figure of a legal practitioner, in the broadest sense of the word, serves as the basis for the Degree in Law. Graduates will therefore be able to successfully pursue whatever professional practice they choose. In view of the above, the Degree aims to deliver training that satisfies the following premises:

  • A theoretical command of the laws in force.
  • A critical analysis of norms and institutions.

With regard to the training goals, graduates will be expected to:

  1. Have a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of law.
  2. Acquire the skills and abilities necessary for the future practice of any of the legal professions described in the professional profile. They must therefore be able to understand legal texts, write of any type of legal document, give presentations and speeches before an audience, and discuss legal matters in depth, amongst others.
  3. Have a broad knowledge base of the legal systems in Spain and its autonomous communities, as well as of the legal framework of all branches of law.

In short, the curriculum of the Degree in Law aims to combine quality and excellence with a comprehensive training programme for future legal practitioners that meets the expectations and demands of modern society. It has likewise been designed to adapt to the guidelines common to the European Higher Education Area.
